Saturday Noon

Well, the thrill from narrowly escaping surgery hadn't warn off yet.  I would say we are still in a bit of shock.  So yesterday afternoon, the Doctors resident came in and we removed Peyton's trach.  She didn't do so well as it was kind of shocking to her she wasn't sure what was happening.  The trach is all she has ever known so just taking that away kind of freaks her out.  We put the trach back in as let her settle down.  Later, we replaced her track with the smallest size trach available to restrict the amount of air available through the trach, thus increasing the amount of air required through her nose and mouth.  Early last evening her surgeon stopped by to check on her and spent nearly an hour with us discussing our options and trying some ideas.  What we decided to do is just work with here over the next few days basically re-teaching her how to breath by continuing to restrict the trach airway.  So far we it's restricted abut 85% and she is doing great.
