Peyton is doing so good, we couldn’t be any more blessed. Please keep Peyton’s Great Grandmother in your prayers as she passed away this morning after 96 years. Now, to get you caught up… You may recall we had an appointment with Peyton’s Surgeon to follow-up her Trach removal. He confirmed that the remaining hole from her trach has not completely closed, thus requiring a future surgical visit. Therefore, after some discussions, we have decided to address this sooner rather than later, let us just get this over with and behind us. Peyton is scheduled to have surgery Tuesday morning, October 14th, at The Children’s Hospital. Do to the nature of this type of procedure, we should be home Tuesday afternoon. We had a party for Peyton to celebrate her Decannulation (Trach removal for the nonprofessional) a couple of weeks ago, we had a Balloon Man, Face Painter and incredible weather. We had a great turnout of friends and family including a very special guest who we consider a friend and family, Peyton’s Surgeon, Dr. Allen and his son as they took time to stop in and celebrate with us. It was so nice to see him outside the normal hospital environment plus it gave us an opportunity to thank him and share Peyton’s life as she continues to progress. It really meant so much to us because you see doctors and have procedures but you rarely get the opportunity to have them over to let them see first hand how they have improved your life. Because her doctor was outside of his element, Peyton wasn’t too sure who he was initially then must have wondered why he was there and what procedure he was going try. Peyton seemed to have a great time. We are hoping those of you who took pictures at this event will send us copies, Yolanda and I were busy hosting and didn’t take any pictures. We had a great time, and plan to do this again, not sure if this will become an annual event, but we can think of many reasons to celebrate. For example, Peyton has a birthday coming up in early January so I would expect something then.
We took an afternoon (‘we’ happened too be Yolanda, her mom, Hannah, Peyton and myself, Aaron had school, but met up with us later for dinner), to visit the Zoo. Peyton seemed to have enjoyed it as she is getting so independent, she wants to get out of the stroller and do her own things. Peyton has no fear, so she just goes where she wants to and seems inconvenienced when she has to stay with the rest of us, and not to get lost. Peyton liked the Lions, as that has kind of been her mantra the last few months as we prepared for her trach removal, ‘hear me roar’, as that has certainly taken off. We saw many other animals, but she appeared to be most disturbed by the snakes, as am I. I will look, but not sure, I could bring myself to touch them. She liked riding the train, but she wasn’t too fond of the Carousal, going around and up and down, may have been too much. But for her first visit to the zoo, I would have to say it was successful and we will be going back.
A week ago last Saturday, we loaded up the car and headed to Boulder, for a Pumpkin Festival. Aaron had to work, as he recently stumbled upon a new coffee shop that was opening in Parker and landed a job. He seems to like it and now knows more about coffee than I ever will. I digress, so it was just me and the girls, Yolanda, Hannah and Peyton heading out to pick pumpkins. We took the wagon, and made several trips back to the car with our prized pumpkin picks. We ended up with 15 pumpkins lots of gourds and our shoes were full of dirt. It was fun and we were tired, but we are now set for Halloween.
I will post an update Tuesday afternoon to let you know how Peyton is doing, but until then enjoy these recent pictures.
