Peyton had a doctor’s appointment on Monday, St Patrick’s Day, and by some accounts, she is over 25% Irish. Although that didn’t really have anything to do with the doctor, but this does. Peyton weighed in at 19lbs 6oz and is tracking in the 10th percentile for her weight and in the 50th percentile for height and weight. There is no concern at this point because she is following the growth curve as expected. Everything else appeared to be good order, the doctor put in orders for a speech therapist so after her surgery they will be ready to go as opposed to sitting on a waiting list then. The main reason for this appointment was to get her monthly Synagis vaccination which helps prevent Respiratory Syncytial Virus Infection or RSV, basically a really bad cold and very contagious. However, for babies and especially ones with compromised heath it can lead to pneumonia. RSV season is typically October to April, but this year it’s expected to spill into May. Peyton will get her final shots for this season in mid April. The insurance companies, as you can imagine, do not like to pay for the vaccine and who can blame them at $2,500 a dose, but when you consider the hospital is packed with kids who are fighting RSV it seems like a cheaper alternative. So now, we are off to dye eggs and prepare for the arrival of the Easter Bunny and of course, March Madness, although Peyton doesn’t seem to care to much about college basketball right now, I’m sure she’ll come around or she’ll just detest it for the rest of her life. Kids… you try to instill good values…
